The term Baroque music shows a categorization of music composed in the seventeenth century and the first half of the eighteenth century, that equates to the spread of Baroque art. The use of the term baroque in music is fairly recent, and is traced back to a publication by the musicologist Curt Sachs in 1919. According to studies by Sachs, the musical production of the first decades of the seventeenth century shows, in all the nations of Europe, although in different forms, the emergence of genres and stylistic features typical "baroque" as other forms of art baroque music period seems doomed to a desire to amaze and entertain the listener.
